Grateful for all former superintendent Carpenter did

To the editor:

As I was sitting in church at a funeral today, I was reminded that I am long overdue in writing this. Life is short. We are all connected. Let’s be kind. Let’s help each other. Let’s remember that we are all on the same team. Let’s be thankful.

As the search is on for a new superintendent, I still don’t understand why. We had a superintendent; one who cared, one who was in it for the long haul. He moved his amazing family here and was willing to go above and beyond to help others, trying to save taxpayer money without devastating students and programs. I would like to publicly thank Mr. Carpenter for his passion for students and believing in them and that, “It is their turn.” Thank you for lifesaving changes made to the pre-k program and giving students a supportive start. I will be forever grateful.
