CARIBOU, Maine — Cary Medical Center recently received a 2019 Aster Award at the Gold Award level for their “In the Pink” breast cancer PSA series, which they created in conjunction and co-sponsorship with Daigle Oil Company and WAGM-TV.

“Three of our ‘In the Pink’ PSAs from 2018 were submitted as a series for consideration,” said Bethany Zell, program director of Pink Aroostook, who represents Cary on the “In the Pink” concept team.

“It is always so fulfilling to be recognized for successful collaborations and ‘In the Pink’ is an excellent example of the great things that can happen when community-minded organizations work together,” Zell continued.

The Aster Awards, one of the largest, most respected national competitions of its kind, is hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc. This elite program has recognized outstanding healthcare professionals for excellence in their advertising and marketing efforts for over 18 years.

The 2019 Aster Awards received thousands of entries from across the United States as well as several foreign countries.  A panel of experts reviews entries and scores them on multiple criteria, with a possibility of 100 percent. Participants’ entries compete against similar-sized organizations in their specific groups and categories.

Awards went to entries that received top marks from judges, placing them in the top 16 percent of the nation for advertising excellence. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.

“The quality and creativity of the entries submitted seems to increase each year. The 2019 Aster Awards program brought together some of the best and most creative advertising in the world,” said Melinda Lucas, Aster Awards program coordinator.
