VaJoWa Golf News – Week of June 10, 2019

ISLAND FALLS, Maine — It looks like the weather has started to change for the better. Sunny and 70’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So get those clubs cleaned up and play a round or two.

Due to the cold and wet weather this spring, it was difficult to schedule a member work day.  The crew has done a nice job of getting the course mowed, including the wet areas and those are drying fast. There is still a lot of brush, limbs and leaves that need to be taken care of.

Sunday Couples had their first event Sunday, June 2. Finishing with 38’s were the team of Rick Bates, Mike Ivey and Sarah Douglas as well as Andy Ivey, April Bates and Val Powers.  Finishing one stroke back were Deb Porter, Peter Blood and Greg Gayne.

Twilight League sign up is in the Golf Shop. If anyone would like to play but doesn’t have a partner, I have golfers who are looking for one. Call  the office for more information.

Women’s golf will be having an informational meeting and scramble on Thursday, June 13, at 10 a.m. Sarah Douglas and Sally Cyr are co-chairs and are requesting your feedback on when to play and format ideas. It has also been stated that the women would like to have their own Twilight League in conjunction with the men’s league.  Please give us your input.
