Twenty 4-H equestrians from all over the state traveled to Skowhegan the weekend of July 19-21 to vie for a place on the Maine 4-H Equestrian Team, which will compete at the Big E in Springfield, Massachusetts, in September.
Out of the 17 riders chosen, four hail from The County: Mallory Williams from Hodgdon and Anna Robinson, Baileigh Moreau and Izzy Higgins, all of Presque Isle. At the tryouts at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds are, from left: Williams; Alison Sweetser, alternate teen leader; Anna Robinson; Megan Robinson, who served as groom for the tryouts; Moreau; and Higgins.
