CARIBOU, Maine — Pines Health Services has announced that Dr. Yesim Kural has joined the Pines Women’s & Children’s Health Center team, located on the Cary Medical Center campus.
Kural earned her medical degree from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. She completed her medical microbiology and pediatrics residency at Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in Eskisehir, Turkey, and her OB/GYN residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York.
Prior to joining Pines Health Services, Dr. Kural was clinical assistant professor for obstetrics and gynecology at the University Pittsburgh Medical Center and worked at Women’s Health Fayette & Uniontown Hospital.
“Dr. Kural is a dynamic and caring physician with many years of experience who will provide exceptional care and service to our patients,” said Lisa Caron, Pines chief operating officer. “Dr. Kural will be offering to her patients all facets of obstetrics and gynecological care and is a much welcomed addition to our busy practice.”
Caron said in recent years, Cary Medical Center has seen a dramatic growth in the number of deliveries, with over 200 annually.
“We have women coming to Pines and Cary from all over Aroostook County and we hear often about how the two staffs coordinate so well and understand the needs of the families, including the expecting dad and siblings,” she said. “We really have something quite special that creates that ‘wow’ experience for new moms and their families. We are just so pleased that Dr. Kural is now on board to assist both teams with our continued success in Maternal/Child.”
Kural began seeing patients on July 30.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, swimming, hiking, archeology and the study of ancient civilizations. She resides in Caribou and is joined by her husband, Dr. Baris Mehmet Kural, MD, Ph.D, and their 8-year-old son Can (pronounced “John”).
