New Dunkin’ opening soon in Caribou

CARIBOU, Maine — Contractors are putting the finishing touches on a new, next-generation Dunkin’ restaurant in Caribou on Bennett Drive, and while no opening or completion date is set as of Oct. 9, the city anticipates that an opening ceremony will likely be held soon.

Caribou Zoning Administrator Ken Murchison said the city foresees a ribbon cutting ceremony in the near future, adding that Dunkin Brands has been “really responsive to the city’s concerns” as they worked through the site design, review and building permit stages of the project.

City officials first discussed the project in mid to late 2018, and lead contractor PGR Construction of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, along with local contractor Soderberg Construction, broke ground on the project in early August of this year

According to a Dunkin’ spokesperson, Caribou’s Dunkin’ will be among the first of the brand’s “next generation” facilities, which in addition to shortening the former name “Dunkin’ Donuts,” will feature a gray aesthetic along with a tap system for cold brew coffees infused with nitrogen.

“The contractor on site has been excellent to work with,” Murchison said on Oct. 8, “keeping the city apprised of progress at each construction milestone. And, as everyone can see, they are doing a great job on the new facility.”
