CARIBOU, Maine — Handmade chocolates, grass-fed beef and locally harvested teas are only a few of the foods that will be available at Micmac Farms’ second annual Harvest Festival Market, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Caribou facility.

Locally produced foods take center stage and all are invited to discover the flavor of what is produced right here in The County, said Jacob Pelkey of Micmac Farms.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to experience local flavor and meet the colorful personalities who are using their resources to raise incredible specialty foods,” he said. “I am proud of our exhibitors’ commitment to ethical agricultural methods and thinking so creatively to create these goods. These are quality foods.”

Families are invited to sample the best of the best from Maine chefs, bakers, farmers and artisans. Live musical entertainment is planned as visitors explore alpaca fibers, pastry chefs and organic farmers as they showcase and share their stories, demonstrate their skills, offer recipe samples and sell County goods.

Micmac Farms has accepted reservations for 23 farms from across the Crown of Maine and anticipates more than 600 visitors to the event.

“The celebration takes place just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday and is a wonderful showcase of our close-knit agricultural community for families returning home to celebrate the day of thanks,” Pelkey said.

Free tours of Micmac Farms’ Maine brook trout hatchery will be offered and hot lunch will be available. Admission is free.
