PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — County authorities have reported multiple crashes since Sunday due to severe road conditions, including heavy snowfall and ice. These incidents, which have been responded to by authorities across The County, slowed down after reaching a peak on Tuesday.

Presque Isle police said they had reports of 10 incidents in the Star City since Sunday. There were no injuries in any of these accidents, some of which occurred before the brunt of the snowfall had hit Presque Isle.

The accidents began late Sunday, with a report of a Subaru Outback in a ditch on Eastern Road after the vehicle had gone off the road.

There was a crash in the Walmart parking lot on Main Street at 11:17 a.m. on Monday.

A driver rolled into another car in Marden’s parking lot on Monday around 7 p.m. Presque Isle Police arrested a driver involved in that incident for driving a motor vehicle while under suspension.

Additionally, a vehicle hit a bus on Hillside Street around 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Damage to the bus required it to be towed from the site of the accident. On Parsons Street on Tuesday, a vehicle attempting to pull into a grocery store slid on ice, hitting a nearby pole. Two vehicles were towed after a crash on Griffin Street around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Both the Maine State Police and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple vehicle crashes between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate car crashes in Frenchville and Cyr Plantation. Between Monday and Tuesday, a vehicle hit a mailbox in Cyr Plantation.

An incident also occurred in Amity. The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office did not have further details about the accident. A vehicle in Linneus hit a pole at 1 a.m. Wednesday, but there were no injuries.

Another car slid into a ditch around 5:30 p.m. on Waddell Road in Mapleton, said Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines. He said the incident caused no damage or injuries.

A man driving a tractor trailer lost control of his vehicle while driving on Route 11 in T7 R5 Wells, said the Sheriff’s Office. The tractor trailer, which was loaded with potatoes at the time of the crash, flipped onto its side off the roadway and broke a utility pole. Alan Jackson, 42, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, suffered minor injuries in the crash, as did his passenger.

Both were transported to AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle after the incident.
