Man stabbed in Limestone in stable condition

LIMESTONE, Maine — A man stabbed at an apartment complex in Limestone late Monday night is in stable condition at a hospital in Portland.

Limestone Police said that at approximately 10:30 p.m., Limestone Sgt. Joey Smith was called to an undisclosed apartment complex on Pondview Street in Limestone. A female resident of the apartment complex had reported yelling and other loud noises coming from an apartment nearby.

As Sgt. Smith drove to the location, Limestone Police received another call saying that someone had been stabbed at the same complex. Smith was quickly given this new information by dispatch.

When Sgt. Smith arrived at the complex, he found that a 28-year-old man had been stabbed with a knife. Sgt. Smith arrested 30-year-old Devon Espling at the scene after the victim identified him as the assailant. Espling has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities transported him to Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

According to police, the victim was initially transported to an undisclosed local hospital before being brought to Portland for further medical treatment.

According to the victim’s aunt, his condition is stable, and he is currently being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
