Presque Isle Historical society recognizes top director

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Historical Society has announced that Carol Bell was named Director of the Year at the Feb. 20 quarterly board meeting.  

The Director of the Year is voted on by all historical society directors and the award is presented annually in February.  

Bell has been a strong proponent for Presque Isle Historical Society for many years and served as president from June 2001 until May 2009.  In addition, she has been extremely active in the community. She has served on the Northern Maine Community College Advisory Board, Northern Maine Development Loan Committee, the Hospital Board, Hope & Justice Board, Northern Maine Fair Board, SAD 1 School Board, and Chamber of Commerce Board, to name just a few.  

Bell also served as the United Way campaign co-chairman and was previously named Presque Isle Citizen of the Year.  

Presque Isle Historical Society, an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit corporation, was founded in 1963.  Its mission is to study, promote and preserve the history, culture, heritage and artifacts of Presque isle for present and future generations.
