Real Heroes — The American Red Cross has canceled its Aroostook County Real Heroes Awards Breakfast, originally scheduled Friday, May 15, in Presque Isle.

Food giveaway — Free boxes of food will be distributed by Pineland Farms of Mars Hill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in the former KMart parking lot at the Aroostook Centre Mall in Presque Isle. The boxes, containing the company’s potato and other products, will be given away on a first-come, first served basis.

Call for volunteers — The Aroostook Agency on Aging is requesting volunteers to help at this time of increased community need, as they care for older neighbors and caregivers in the area. Call the main office at 764-3396 or 1-800-439-1789 for information.

Meals on Wheels — Home-delivered Meals on Wheels are available throughout Aroostook County for individuals aged 60 and above or disabled persons who are both homebound (even temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic) and having difficulty making a meal. Qualifying individuals in some towns receive hot meals Monday through Friday, and in other towns 10 frozen meals biweekly, along with homemade whole wheat bread and milk. Outdoor activity — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H Camps and Learning Centers have created a new outdoor activity series designed to stream live on the UMaine 4-H Camp & Learning Center at Tanglewood Facebook page each Wednesday at noon.
