HOULTON, Maine — On Saturday Sept. 12, The Salvation Army of Houlton will host its 3rd Annual “The County’s Ride For The Red Shield.”

With families needing more and more assistance during these financially difficult times, the Salvation Army hopes to raise $10,000 during this ride. There are still opportunities for businesses to sponsor the event, all they need to do is call the office or go to the Salvation Army’s  website for information.

“Last year’s event was successful and we hope to grow it even more this year,” Envoy/Pastor Frank Nataluk said.

COVID-19 guidelines will be followed through registration and for the meal afterwards. The money raised will help fund the social service programs that assist hundreds of families locally.

“The neediest of the Houlton area will benefit and participants will have a great day, this is a win-win,” Nataluk said.

The Scrabble-Scramble winner will receive a grand prize that is still to be determined. There will also be door prizes from local businesses.  Trophies will also be given for Judges Choice Best Bike, People’s Choice Best Bike and Best Represented Bike Group.

Registration is 8-9 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 12 Court St. in Houlton. The bike blessing is at 9 a.m. and at 9:15 a.m. the 3-hour ride will begin.  Each biker will have directions with 2 places to stop and the ending Point is at The Salvation Army where they began the ride.

There will be a barbecue lunch, the judging of the bikes and awards and door prizes. Any monetary donation is appreciated and an event neck gaiter will be given to the first 30 registrants.  Registration Forms are available at  Just click on the scrolling biker on the banner.
