Caribou Technology Center goes red for the day due to possible COVID case

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Technology Center will go into a red, or remote learning, model on Wednesday, Nov. 4, due to a possible COVID-19 case within the building, according to a letter that RSU 39 (Caribou and Stockholm) Superintendent Tim Doak sent to parents.

Doak said the administration learned about a possible exposure at the Caribou Technology Center, which shares a campus with but is separate from Caribou High School, on Nov. 3. And while a test was administered at Cary Medical Center on the same day with negative results, the Superintendent said the school will be conducting a follow-up test today as a precaution.

Doak emphasized the importance of taking social distancing seriously, encouraging parents and guardians to avoid crowds, stay at home when possible and to maintain a six-foot distance from others. He said the most important things parents and guardians can do is to ensure their children wear masks, wash their hands and stay home if they’re sick — and to call their primary care provider if their children are showing any COVID-19 symptoms.

He said updates will be available via the RSU 39 website at rsu39.org and that questions can be sent to him at tdoak@rsu39.org.

“Thank you for your continued support,” he said. “By working together, we will get through these challenging times. With your participation, we believe we can create a safe and meaningful experience for your children. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at your convenience.”
