LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone celebrated its annual light parade on Saturday, Dec. 12, with this year’s theme being “A Small Town Christmas.”

The parade, organized by the Limestone Development Foundation/Chamber was originally scheduled for Dec. 6, but was moved to Dec. 12 due to a significant snow storm in the area.

Line-up began at the Limestone Community School parking lot at 5 p.m., with judging of the floats taking place at 5:30 p.m., and the parade traveling down Main Street at 6 p.m..

This year’s first place winner was the Limestone Snow Hawks, with Robbie and Shelly Caldwell and family receiving second, and the Limestone Fire Department getting third place. Respectively, winners received $100, $75, and $50 dollar cash prizes.

Michelle Albert, president of the LDF/Chamber, said the event saw a great turnout and that spectators were asked to follow CDC guidelines in light of the pandemic.

“I would like to thank all that came out to put this together, from the highway department making sure our light posts are decorated, the police department for keeping our parade path safe from traffic, to the school and fire department being part of the parade,” Albert said. “I would like to thank Boulevard Graphix for providing some holiday music on Main Street for all to enjoy.”
