Presque Isle hockey plays busy stretch of games

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Wildcat hockey team played three tough games with squads in central Maine over the past week.

Presque Isle hosted Bangor High School Saturday, Jan. 30, with the visiting Rams scoring four goals in the second half to earn a 5-4 victory. Garrett Letourneau scored his first high school goal for Presque Isle, Breygan Mahan had a goal, and Jonah Roy had two goals. Shots were 31 to 30 in favor of Presque Isle. Brandon Poitras played net for Presque Isle.

Presque Isle traveled to Bangor Jan. 29, taking on John Bapst, and came home with a 1-1 tie.  Quinn Demerchant scored with four minutes left in the game with an assist from Roy. Caleb Robin scored on an Aiden Dunn assist with 22 seconds left in the game to tie it up. Neither team was able to score in overtime.

On Jan. 26, Presque Isle traveled to Brewer, where the Wildcats fell 9-2. The score was 3-2 after the first half for Brewer. Dawson Kinney and Roy each scored and assisted each other. Demerchant picked up an assist on each goal.

In the second half, Brewer scored six unanswered goals for the victory. Brandon Poitras faced 32 shots in goal for the Wildcats. Tyler St. Lawrence faced 16 shots for Brewer.
