PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle senior Hattie Bubar came off the bench and drained four 3-point field goals, leading the way as the Wildcats (2-0) bested the Shiretowners 53-44 Jan. 30 at PIHS.

It marked the second time this season that PI bested Houlton (3-3). The Wildcats took the first meeting, 52-48, on Jan. 20 in Houlton.

Five of Bubar’s teammates also connected on 3-pointers as the Wildcats led at all the quarter breaks, including by as many as 16 points in the second half. Bubar scored a team-high 12 points, followed by Faith Sjoberg with 11 and Rhylee Kinney and Anna Jandreau with 9 and 8, respectively. PI’s reserve players tallied an impressive 22 points in the contest, as Julianna Morningstar (5) and Courtney Kane (4) joined Bubar in making significant contributions.

Mia Henderson totaled a team-high 13 points and Olivia Henderson notched 12 for the Shires. Drew Warman chipped in with nine.

The teams are slated to battle a third time as part of this year’s unique schedule resulting from the pandemic. That matchup will be held in Houlton on Feb. 23.
