Wandering around cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong is a treat for the imagination. While people may move into such places ,there is still a drive to bring the wilderness into the concrete and steel.
Naturalists have noted that various woodland creatures have joined their human neighbors and set up homes. Birds, bees, rats, skunks, and coons find plenty to do in the concrete canyons. The skill of observation, learned in the woods, finds plenty of work walking down a shaded avenue.
Now that the snow is finally leaving, much has been revealed. Wandering down Main Street reveals message signs filled with intrigue.
What do suspenders do? In most cases they live up to their name. They hold up one’s pants. Fans of the original local television show “Potato Picker’s Special” will remember the unceasing battle waged by the host, John Logan, for braces. It was another name for suspenders. A farmer was not dressed until he had his braces on his britches.
If suspenders are designed and intended to hold up one’s pants, then what are ‘hold up suspenders?’ This message can be found outside a certain establishment on Main Street. Are the pants of the Star City needing to be held up twice as much as ordinary pants?
