Tiger Basketball Camp returns after year off

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The Tiger Basketball Camp is returning for its 35th year this summer after a one-year break due to COVID-19.

This year’s camp will be held from June 21-25 for girls and June 28-July 2 for boys.

The camps will feature two divisions for boys and girls. The “College Division” will be for those currently in grades 4-6, while the “NBA/WNBA Division” will be for those currently in grades 7-9, which means that this year’s freshmen will be eligible to play.

This NBA/WNBA division is for the player who is motivated, has potential, and can be challenged to take their game to the next level. The expectations will be higher for this division of players.

The boys and girls camps will be limited to the first 40 applicants in each division, which will allow for more playing time, more team practice time and more individualized skill development.

“If you really want to take your game to the next level and be challenged, you need to attend this camp,” said Larry Gardner, event organizer “All teams will be coached by experienced high school coaches who will provide you the tools you need to improve your game.”

The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday. The camp includes breakfast and lunch each day with a special barbecue lunch for campers during the week. “Championship Friday” will include all the championship events as in the past along with a new 3-point shooting contest this year.

As an added feature, all the championship events will be streamed online. Each participant will also receive a “Tiger” Basketball T-shirt.

“We have an amazing staff available to help teach your son or daughter the game of basketball in a positive and competitive way with many skills challenges, drills, shooting competitions on the ‘Dr. Dish’ machine, and team games and practices to help all age groups raise their games to the next level,” Gardner added.

The camp fee of $170 and includes the camp instruction, meals, awards and camp T-shirt. For more information, contact Gardner at 207-551-5001 or email lgardner@msad20.org for more information.
