Saturn gets a face lift

Work has been underway at Beaulieu’s Garage in Caribou this summer to refurbish the Maine Solar System Model planet Saturn and get it ready to go back into orbit.

Established by the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the northern Maine community, the Maine Solar System Model is the largest scale model of the solar system in the western hemisphere, and the second largest such model in the world. A crew of volunteers recently helped with the painting of the planet. From left are Sam Robertson, Debbie Reidy, Kevin McCartney, Jim Stepp, and Richard Jones.
