Houlton Council of Catholic Women meeting

HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met on Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center for their monthly meeting. There were three members present and our spiritual adviser, Deacon Al.

 

Also present were Kathy Dyer and two former members, Jane Stile and Bonnie Reynolds.   Deacon Al gave a blessing for our bag lunch. Following our lunch, President Janet Barker led us in our prayers, salute to the cross and flag and our hymn.  

 

President Barker read the secretary’s report from our October meeting.  Mary Grant gave the treasurer’s report.  Alta Readon read correspondence. Our animal shelter shower was held during the month of October and Mary Grant and Alta Reardon will deliver the items  that were collected to the Animal Shelters.

 

The council is selling tickets on a lighted wreath which is decorated with 50 $1 bills before and after the masses on Sunday. The winner will be drawn on Nov. 14 following the 10:30 a.m. mass.

 

We will be donating to the Thanksgiving meal which will be held on Thanksgiving day. This meal will be for take out or sit down and is free and everyone is invited to attend. November birthdays and anniversaries were noted.

 

Prayer requests were collected and Janet led us in a decade of the Rosary. Following the meeting, members and guests addressed Christmas cards to be sent to shut-ins. Our next meeting will be on Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
