From the Bunkers – Week of June 8, 2022

On Saturday we held our annual Memorial Tournament. A poor weather forecast did not stop everyone from coming out to this first tournament of the year. The first gross winning team was Doug and Tammy Griffin, Mike Flemming and Kayla Martinez. The first net winning team was Kody Tuttle, Matt Tuttle, John Tuttle, and Patrick Howe.

Congratulations to all the winners.

On Monday we saw the start of the Men’s Twilight League. There were some great matches played, with some very close scores. We have 24 teams competing in three different time divisions. Please note while the league is having matches the course will be closed from 3-5:30 p.m. each Monday.

Each Tuesday the Ladies League will be playing a different format. Play starts at 4 p.m., June 7 and they will be playing “Fewest Putts.”

Junior Golf starts Monday, June 14, with registration starting at 8 a.m. at the golf course. Classes throughout the season will be 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Other upcoming tournaments are the Mucho Moolah 2 Person Scramble June 25, and the Alumni Scramble July 9. Spots are filling up fast, so sign up today with the clubhouse by calling 532-2662.

In our quest to recognize the many volunteers at HCGC, the list brings me to Kevin Tuttle. Last year, Kevin volunteered his time and a tractor-trailer truck with a center mount loader trailer for a day to clean up the area on the road side of the No. 3 tee box. Since then, he has been hired as the course superintendent. Thank You Kevin.

Are you looking for some extra help on your golf game? We are now offering multiple options for lessons. We have three local instructors.
