County squads struggle in state golf championships

VASSALBORO, Maine — It was a tough match for County golfers competing in two separate state championships over the weekend.

Presque Isle placed seventh out of nine squads in the Class B competition, while Fort Fairfield finished ninth and Central Aroostook 12th in Class C championships. Both competitions were played at the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

In the Class C states, Fort Fairfield had a score of 386, while Central Aroostook finished with a 436. Maranacook of Readfield was the top team in Class C with a 334 overall score.

Tiger Michael Bruce shot an 82 to grab ninth place in the individual boys championship for Fort Fairfield.

Individual scores for Fort Fairfield were Brett Senal tied for 50th and shot a 100, Cayden Ala placed tied for 52nd with a 101. Graedon King came in tied for 54th, scoring a 103 and Blake Senal came in 72nd place and shot a 126, while Mason Mitchel placed 74th with a 128.

Individual scores for Central Aroostook were Abram McCrum tied for 46th with a 98, Dayton Taylor tied for 50th and shot a 100, and Wyatt Allen finished in 67th place with a score of 114. Brighton Kingsbury and Trace Kinney both placed in tied for 69th and shot a 124, and Caden Bell finished last with a score of 134.

In the Class B state meet, Presque Isle had a score of 365. Leavitt finished first with a 330.

Individual scores for Presque Isle were Grant Stubbs and Gavin Dunleavy in tied for 20th with an 88, Ean Roy tied for 33rd and shot a 94, Jack Boone followed in 37th place with a 95, Owen Mackinnon tied for 42nd with a 97, and Cooper Boinske came in tied for 51st with a 105.
