Houlton Elks advance local youths in regional soccer shoot

BANGOR, Maine – The Northern District Elks soccer shoot competition was held on Oct. 9, in Bangor. Several youths from the Houlton Lodge of Elks participated in this year’s competition after competing and winning their respective divisions at the local lodge level.

Three youths are now preparing to compete in the state soccer shoot competition in their respective division. Raiden Cochran of Easton placed first in the boys 14 and under division; Drake Lynds of Houlton placed first in the boys under 10 division; and Maryn Dyer of Monticello placed first in the girls under 10 division. 

Two other youths from the Houlton Lodge of Elks also competed in the regionals. Conlon Savage of Smyrna Mills came in third in the boys under 8 competition and Isabel Onder of Houlton placed fourth in the girls under 8 competition.

The state championship will be held on Oct. 16 in Bangor. Winners from the state competition will advance to the Area 1 Regional soccer shoot on Nov. 5 in Augusta.
