FORT KENT, Maine — Had there been just 22 seconds less on the game clock the Fort Kent girls would have pulled out a win against Hodgdon Wednesday, but a last-minute scramble netted the visiting Hawks a 58-55 victory.
The Warriors were up by a point until the final seconds of the game when Hodgdon’s Anna Oliver pulled out a bucket Fort Kent would not match. With just under a second to go, Oliver sank a pair of free throws to seal the win for the Hawks.
Hodgdon moved to 6-0 with the win and is one of just three teams to remain undefeated in the Class C North girls division. The other two are Penobscot Valley (2-0) and Dexter Regional High School (6-0).
Fort Kent is 2-2 on the season.
Larissa Daigle clocked in with 13 Warrior points, including three, three-pointers. Lily Oliver also scored 13 points. Lily Werntgen added another 12.
Sophomore phenom Anna Oliver registered a game high 21 points for Hodgdon. Aleyah Matheson contributed a healthy 16 points and Lexi Rackliff followed with 10.
