PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle Historical Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023 and local residents will be the ones getting the gifts! In addition to the Society’s already ambitious annual schedule of tours and events, the Society will be offering an additional anniversary event each month of 2023, the majority of which will be free to the public.   Monthly anniversary events include a new virtual tour, a grant writing workshop, an event at the Maysville Museum celebrating National Landline Telephone Day, a book signing, a children’s book reading, a free historical presentation, events in the garden of the 1875 Vera Estey House Museum, an Antique Automobile Club of America car show with vehicles dating prior to 1931, a Victorian tea, and a special new Christmas house tour. Details of monthly events will be forthcoming as the dates approach.

For January, a new free virtual online tour of the Mayville Museum is now available for viewing.  To view the 25-minute long YouTube video, go to The museum, located on the corner of US 1 (Caribou Road) and the Brewer Road has free admission but is closed for the season until its 2023 opening on Saturday, June 3.

In February, the Society is offering a comprehensive grant writing workshop to be held on the 25th. This workshop is open to anyone interested in learning to write grants – whether as a new skill to add to a resume or as staff member or volunteer of a non-profit organization. The cost of the three-hour workshop is $75 with advance registration required. For more information, email .
