Local students reap state SkillsUSA championships

HOULTON, Maine — Region Two has announced the outstanding achievements of local students at the state championships of SkillsUSA, held recently in Bangor. 

Students participated in various categories, showcasing their skills and expertise in different areas of career and technical education.

Gold medalists included:  Jordyn Bishop in Collision Tool ID; Braden White in Automotive Refinishing Technology; Rowan Billotti in Medical Terminology, and the team of Kai Sablone, Leana Caswell, and Landon Potter in Industrial Career Pathways. 

“Their hard work, commitment and dedication to their craft have been truly inspiring, and they have set a high standard for future competitors,” Region Two officials said.

Several of the gold medalists may go on to compete at the National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, in June.

Silver medalists included: Brenan Burpee in Job Skill Demonstration, Felicity Ward in Collision Tool ID, Sofia McNally in the Career Ready Knowledge Test, and Brody McLaughlin in Baking and Pastry Arts. 

“Their achievements are a testament to their perseverance and determination, and we congratulate them on their success,” officials said.

Also competing for Region Two were Victoria Bellisle (Early Childhood Education), Lillian Moulton (Employment Application Process), Shiloh Richardson (Promotional Bulletin Board team), Collin Crouse (Welding Sculpture), Nicholas Hardy (Culinary Arts), Lillie Henderson (Promotional Bulletin Board team), Joseph Pettegrow (Criminal Justice), Evan Berube (Electrical Construction Wiring), Krisalyn Booker (Promotional Bulletin Board team), Hunter Noyes (Collision Repair), Ethan Mitchell (Heavy Equipment Operation), Kayla MacClellan (State Pin Design), Kaylee Hayes (Outdoor Adventure).

Region Two staff thanked the teachers, instructors, family, business partners and everyone who supported the students along the way. Students received invaluable guidance, encouragement  and support as they achieved their goals and realized their potential.   

The State SkillsUSA Championships are a competitive platform for students to demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and expertise in various career and technical fields.
