HOULTON, Maine – Natalie Delucca of Houlton is the 2023 recipient of the Legacy Scholarship from The Elks National Foundation.
The foundation recently announced its Legacy Scholarship award winners and Delucca is one of four Maine recipients to receive the scholarship. Delucca was sponsored by the Houlton Lodge of Elks 835.
The Legacy Scholarship offered by the Elks National Foundation goes to high school seniors who are children or grandchildren (or step-child, step grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2019, or a charter member of a lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2019. The Elk must also be in good standing with the Lodge.
Delucca will receive $1,000 per year for four years to help pay for college.
To be eligible for this scholarship Delucca is required to perform service once a year with an Elks Lodge during the four years she is receiving the scholarship. Elks Lodges are constantly helping their communities and volunteering it is a great opportunity to learn more about the Elks while serving the community.
The Houlton Elks Lodge provides many opportunities for Delucca to fulfill her service requirement, including but not limited to re-bounding at hoop shoot; lodge fundraising meals and events; organizing food drives or assisting in the back-to-school project.
Delucca (excluding the first-year) is required to provide one year of service to the sponsoring Elk Lodge but can fulfill the remaining years of the Legacy service requirement at any of the 1,800-plus Elks Lodges in the country.
