Cary CFO/COO presents at conference in North Carolina

Chelsea Desrosiers, chief financial officer/chief operating officer at Cary Medical Center, recently was part of a prestigious panel of Healthcare Financial professionals that presented at the North Carolina Healthcare Financial Management Association 70th Annual Meeting. Desrosiers attended the event from February 7-9 at Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The prestigious panel included four chief financial officers discussing a variety of issues including Medicare Advantage plans, workforce issues, patient transitions, capital improvements and Social Determinants of Health. The panel included Dennis Dahlen, chief financial officer at the Mayo Clinic.   

Desrosiers also co-presented on the topic of revenue cycle with Denny Roberge, principal with Berry Dunn at a separate session. Commenting on her experience at the conference Desrosiers said that presenting with some of the nation’s top healthcare financial professionals was a great opportunity. 

“The conference addressed some of the key challenges faced by healthcare organizations in our nation today,” said Desrosiers. “The perspectives provided by the various healthcare financial experts went from rural environments to system-wide forces that are impacting overall healthcare financial issues. It was nice to know that we are not alone in facing these challenges regardless of size. This collaborative discussion held at the conference provided some fresh perspectives.”

Desrosiers is currently president-elect of Northern New England Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association which includes Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
