Thanks to Industrial Council

To the editor:

Having been on the [Presque Isle] Industrial Council for a few years, two of which were as chairperson of the board, I thought I would make a comment on the current news items. I want to thank current and past directors and staff for the past work on making the industrial park a success. It took a lot of hard work to make the industrial park what it is today.

The current issues I find quite distressing, as it seems needless. I do not think that the current issues are resolvable, although I wish the issues could be resolved. Going forward, I think that the industrial council should be disbanded and all the remaining assets sold.

Unfortunately, I do not think that businesses will lease the assets, given the issues. The extra real estate tax income should be used to lower taxes to the citizens of Presque Isle. This would eliminate all the issues and be beneficial to the citizens of Presque Isle who have supported the industrial park all these past years. As it is said, we had a good run. A special thank you to Larry Clark, who put in over 45 years as executive director. Thank you once again to the directors and staff.
