The Haystack Historical Society held its annual baked ham and bean dinner Sept. 14, featuring ham accompanied by home-cooked baked beans and potato salad made with new Mapleton potatoes.
The dinner is a longstanding tradition in Mapleton that has been enjoyed by many hundreds of residents from Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill. This year folks were able to dine in the museum or do a drive-thru. Diners enjoyed the traditional menu. The society wishes to thank all who came out to enjoy a tasty meal, while supporting the operations of the museum.
All funds received from the dinner and other donors make the continued operation of the museum possible. The society will be buttoning up the museum for winter at the end of October, so if anyone wishes to visit the museum before closing, please contact Alice Shepard at 769-6431 to arrange a visit.
Fall Craft/Vendor Fair
The Mapleton Daze Committee will host their annual Fall Craft Fair & Vendor Fair on Saturday, Oct. 12. This fall fair is just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving and upcoming holiday shopping.
The fair will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mapleton Elementary School. People should enter through the main entrance doors. Crafters and vendors will be found throughout the school — in the gym, the hallways and the cafeteria. They will have lots of items for sale.
Readers are invited to come and support local crafters. There will be many handcrafted items for purchase. The Mapleton Daze Committee will have lots of goodies for sale with proceeds going towards Mapleton Daze in June 2025. They are looking forward to seeing friends and neighbors at the Craft Fair.
The committee is also asking for donations of school supplies that can be used by the school. They ask that donations be dropped off in the box next to the Mapleton Daze Committee table.
All available crafter and vendor spaces have been filled. With all spots assigned, Lynnelle Foster and Laurie Boucher are taking names for a waiting list just in case there are cancellations that come in.
Please contact only Lynnelle or Laurie, as there are other folks who say spots are available and will take your money. They are scammers. The Mapleton Daze want everyone including crafters, vendors and customers to have a good time.
