MARS HILL, Maine – The ski patrol at Big Rock Mountain has received a charitable giving grant from Versant to enhance the safety and first aid equipment. They have purchased a new toboggan and pads for all existing toboggans. Additionally, evacuation supplies were purchased. These were put into practice during the first of three pre-season refresher training sessions.

With assistance from Peter Kotch of MEMIC, the patrol conducted their evacuation refresher:  training for team leaders. Next these leaders will guide their teams in evacuation skills in preparation for the upcoming season.

“Our predominantly volunteer patrol will greatly benefit from these supplies, and we owe our gratitude to Versant for providing the funding. This opportunity allows us to further elevate our high standards of care”, according to Aaron Damon, assistant general manager at Big Rock.
