A Caribou woman has been charged with burglary after a trail of footprints led police to her door.

Tiffany Soucy, 31, was arrested Jan. 24 and charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief, according to the Caribou Police Department.

Sgt. Chad Cochran went to a McKinley Street home at around 10 a.m. after a resident reported “suspicious” footprints, police said. Officer Doug Bell and Sgt. Keith Ouellette also responded.

The homeowner reported items missing from the garage.

Cochran noted boot prints in the snow, along with tire tracks from what appeared to be a wagon, police said. He followed the footprints to the front door of a Sweden Street home. Officers obtained a search warrant for the property and arrested Soucy.

Soucy is being held at the Aroostook County Jail awaiting a March 6 court date.

She could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine for the burglary and theft charges, which are Class C crimes. Criminal mischief is a Class D crime, punishable by up to 364 days incarceration and a $2,000 fine.

Justin Murphy, 40, of Caribou was also arrested on charges unrelated to the burglary. Police did not specify those charges.
