The Maine Insurance Agents Association recently elected Peter Clavette, CIC of Madawaska as chair of the board.
Clavette is a partner and senior vice president with United Insurance and manages United Insurance’s offices in Madawaska and Van Buren. His responsibilities include the management and training of agency staff in all aspects of customer service, insurance coverage education and sales. In addition to his local duties, Clavette is also responsible for the oversight of United Insurance’s Agency Management Group, as well as being responsible for leading their training and development team.
Clavette began his insurance career in April of 2005 as a commercial producer and assistant manager of the Ezzy Agency in Madawaska. He obtained his Property and Casualty License in March of 2005. In 2007 Clavette succeeded John Ezzy as the agency manager of the Ezzy Agencies in both Madawaska and Van Buren. Clavette obtained his Life and Health License in 2009 and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor Designation.

Clavette has served as a member of Madawaska’s Economic Develop Board, was a past vice president of the Madawaska Chamber of Commerce, and served as the chair for the Madawaska Fair Hearing Board. Clavette is involved in several charitable organizations within the community that focus on bettering the community via service, volunteerism, and charity. He is married to Tammy, a native Newfoundlander, and together they have two children, a daughter Kamryn and son Jordan. Clavette enjoys reading, writing, coaching and playing basketball and soccer.
The Maine Insurance Agents Association, located in Hallowell, was founded in 1899. The association represents, supports and promotes independent insurance agents.
