The Mapleton Little League season has come to an end, but the work of Little League volunteers continues as they prepare for the 2026 season.

This year work began to upgrade the second baseball diamond and field at Mapleton Elementary School.  This year the Mapleton Lions Club agreed to work with the community to upgrade the field by finding community partners to assist in the field development.  One of the first support groups that came forward this year was Columbia Forest Products, who presented a donation of $5,000 to purchase a new electronic scoreboard.

Additionally, permanent outfield safety fencing has been installed and groundwork started on construction of team dugouts for the players.  Volunteers are doing all the work for installing all of the upgrades to the second field.  There are still other opportunities for donations and assistance in the field upgrade.

This year Mapleton Little League the saw a significant growth in the number of youth who played. More than 110 youngsters played on seven teams in the league, which is an increase from five teams in past years.

Individuals or organizations wishing to help with the field improvement, may contact Jake Graham, who is the town program director for the Mapleton-Castle Hill-Chapman Recreation Department.

Soccer registration open

The Mapleton Recreation Program announced the fall soccer program registration is now live for online registration. Parents may register online at registration.teamsnap.com/form/35121, or in person at the town office.  The 2025 soccer program will run from Sept. 1 to Oct. 17.

The soccer program schedule will be as follows: PreK-K children will play on Wednesdays.  First to third grade students will play on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.  Fourth to seventh grade students will play on Mondays and/or Fridays.  Session times will be after school, typically at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30.

The Mapleton Recreation Program has a full staff for this year who are ready to go.

Program fees for players are $25 per child with a $70 max per family.  The program has no additional non-resident fee for out-of-town youth players.

Paper registrations are still available at the town office for those who prefer the old-fashioned way. The program is excited to have soccer back this year after missing last year due to lack of available staff.

The Mapleton Recreation Program aims to provide an excellent program for these young players this fall.  They look forward to seeing everyone. For any questions, please reach out to the Mapleton Recreation Program through the town office or on their Facebook page.
