Artists from across creative genres will be the main attraction at the Wintergreen Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk.
The art-filled evening will feature an artist reception hosted by the Aroostook Creative Network in conjunction with Wintergreen’s 12-by-12 art auction fundraiser. Live music will be performed by Just Us, musicians Janice Santos, Doug Drew and Benjamin Yeager. Refreshments will be served.
“We look forward to celebrating the artists who received grants from the Aroostook Creative Network [Micro-Grant Program] as well as welcoming all artists for an evening of networking and friendship,” said Sheila Jans of Madawaska, regional development director for the Maine Arts Commission. “This micro-grant program has been such a great success in connecting artists and fueling creative projects across Aroostook County.”
In 2023, the Aroostook Creative Network Micro-Grant Program was established to provide micro-grants to artists who live and work in Aroostook County, Maine. Since the inception of the micro-grant program, 71 County artists have received funding through the Aroostook Creative Network.
“As we celebrate the Aroostook Creative Network, Wintergreen’s gallery will be full of art for our 12X12 art auction,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s program director. “Artists from near and far have donated their artwork to support the transformation of our After School Arts Program. More details will be shared during the event as online bidding opens at 6 p.m., Sept. 5, and ends promptly at 8 p.m.”
Wintergreen will host an online preview of the 12-by-12 art pieces from Aug. 25 through Sept. 5.
