The Realm of Twin Riverswood Renaissance Faire will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14, at Albert Michaud Memorial Park in Limestone.
Admission at the gate will be cash only: $6 for adults, $4 for teens and $3 for youth 4 to 12. Kids up to 3 get in free.
This will be the sixth year Twin Riverswood has presented the faire, with the added distinction of being a 2024 nominee for the Renaissance Festival Awards, designed for themed festivals throughout New England.
The local event is the only known Renaissance faire in Northern Aroostook County presented by a nonprofit medieval educational organization.
This year’s theme is Swords and Sonnets, which will encompass an informative approach to sonnets and poetry in the Renaissance world presented through various activities, including musical performances by Amy Kercsmar, Silk Sonata with the Belizaire Brothers and Danielle and Thomas Segen. There will be youth activities in the children’s pPavilion, including storytime, crafts, games and a Sunday Knights & Damsels Tea.
Eugene Katsman with Katspaw Forge will demonstrate blacksmithing and Matt Grandy will offer his Lignous Alces Woodworking.
No medieval-inspired event would be complete without knights, so once again this year the Stormwalkers of WARG will show their skills, along with Serpent’s Edge having a thrown weapons range this year.
Archery and youth axe throwing will also be available. All participants in these activities must sign a waiver.
Shiretown Gaming LLC will showcase cosplay demonstrations among other offerings, and a variety of merchants will assemble Merchant’s Row and The Glen areas.
Food options will be provided by The Funnel Cake Shack, Nacho Mama’s Food Truck and Smokey Bear’s BBQ, with possibly some baked goods at some of the merchant booths.
The Realm of Twin Riverswood is a 501(c)7 nonprofit organization, which precludes it from receiving most grant funding, so the group relies on sponsorships to help cover the costs of the annual faire.
The group is short of this year’s goal by $850 and is seeking funds. Contact Karralena Castaway, event coordinator, at karralenacastaway@yahoo.com for details.
