More on mining

To the editor:

I read Mr. Craft’s letter on Aug. 20.  It was in response to my letter on July 30, “A boost to U.S. mining.”  He claimed that my examples in the letter shade the truth. He then went on to confirm almost everything I wrote.  On Australia expanding domestic processing: he agreed. On the Mountain Pass mine being revitalized: he agreed. On minerals being produced from waste residue from kaolin mining: he agreed. On the Pea Ridge Mine: he says it will come about.

As far as Brazil, Myanmar, and Ukraine being possible markets for us, he says no, I say never say never.

I didn’t elaborate too much on Mr. Craft’s letter. He seemed more interested in bestowing credit to Biden for his part where rare metals were concerned.  I think he wrongly thought my letter was to praise Trump for his efforts on rare earth. It wasn’t. I don’t care who gets the credit, let’s just solve the problem.

I would also like to thank Mr. Craft for all the research he did on the subject. His research proved me right on four of the five major points in my letter. He made no mention of the Brook mine in Wyoming. I don’t know how he missed that one, but it would have given me a clean sweep on the five major points.
