MADAWASKA, Maine —  St, John Valley Artists, a local artists group, is proud to host “The Heart of the Acadian Forest – The St. John River Valley”, a solo photography exhibition by local artist Steve Young of One World Artisans. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6–8 p.m. at the St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce in Madawaska. The exhibit will remain on display through mid-November.

This marks Young’s 11th solo exhibition — and his first in nearly two decades. A lifelong photographer with more than 50 years behind the lens, Young’s work captures the essence of the St. John River Valley, a region he describes as “the heart of the Acadian Forest eco-region, and to me, the best place on Earth for many reasons.”

The exhibit features a range of photographic techniques, from large-format film to digital compositions, including both silver-gelatin prints and archival giclée enlargements. Viewers will experience panoramic landscapes, intimate forest details and scenes that celebrate the natural beauty and biodiversity of northern Maine.

Originally from Madawaska, Young is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and founder of One World Artisans in Frenchville, where he combines his passions for photography, environmental stewardship, and community collaboration. He also serves as president and founder of the Upper St. John River Organization, a local nonprofit land trust dedicated to conservation, education and recreational opportunities in the region.

The Chamber invites the community to join in celebrating this special homegrown exhibition and to connect with the artist during the opening reception. Light refreshments will be served.
