PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — On Monday, Oct. 13 at the Johnson Athletic Complex, the host Wildcats girls shut out the John Bapst Crusaders 2-0. The Crusader boys returned the favor, shutting out Presque Isle 3-0.
In the opening girls game, Astra Laughton took a pass from Lucy Cheney and scored midway through the first half to put the Wildcats up 1-0. Emily Collins knocked one in early in the second half, assisted by Peyton Boinske, to go up 2-0. The score held up as Kolbie Langley earned the shut-out in goal for Presque Isle. The Wildcats are now 8-4, and the Crusaders drop to 7-4.

In the boys game, the Crusaders went up a little over five minutes into the contest, as Cooper Lewis scored on a feed from Gavin Rogers to put John Bapst up 1-0. Kasper Hansen scored in the final minutes of the first half, again assisted by Rogers, as the Crusaders went in with the 2-0 halftime lead. Jack Backman finished up the scoring on a pass from Paul Nuebel, as the Crusaders got the 3-0 victory. Bode Phillips had the shutout in goal as the Crusaders stayed unbeaten with a record of 9-0-2. The Wildcats, who had tied the Crusaders earlier this season, suffer the second loss of the season and are now 8-2-2.
