One man suffered life-threatening injuries and two others received serious injuries in a head-on collision between a pickup and a cargo truck in Fort Fairfield Monday morning.

Theodore St. Peter, 57, of Fort Fairfield, was traveling west on the South Caribou Road in a Dodge Ram pickup after leaving his residence sometime before 10 a.m. St. Peter accelerated and lost control of the vehicle, crossing the center line and colliding with an Isuzu cargo truck, Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings said in a release.

The cargo truck, driven by 25-year-old Cameron Doody of Woodland, flipped on its side and came to a rest in the eastbound ditch.

St. Peter was transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou with life-threatening injuries. Doody and an unnamed passenger of the box truck were also brought to Cary Medical Center with serious injuries but were expected to recover.

None of the occupants of either vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, Cummings said.

The crash remains under investigation.
