To the editor:
We have a new breed of leaders entering the political arena in our country. Many are young and fiery. They seem to be the ones getting all the attention and their number is growing. What concerns me is the trend toward socialism that so many of the young seem to favor. This new breed of, as they like to call themselves, socialist Democrats, is led by a young lady called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).
Ocasio-Cortez, upon election, thought the three branches of government were the House, the Senate and the president. She also made the ridiculous statement that the reason unemployment was so low was because everybody was working two and three jobs. She fought, successfully, to keep Amazon out of New York City because she didn’t understand how tax incentives worked.
Her list of non-accomplishments goes on and on, yet hers is one of the most recognized names in politics today.
I find this drift toward socialism alarming and we’d better open our eyes before it’s too late. A wise man once said, “If you think the same in 30 years as you do now, then you have wasted 30 years of your life.”
My fear is what damage can be done to our country in the future if some thought isn’t given to the direction that AOC and her minions are leading us. To those young ideologues out there I can only say, watch what you wish for, because in 30 years you will have a whole new set of values, so be careful that you don’t destroy your future today.
