CARIBOU, Maine — Cary Medical Center is pleased to announce its 2026 New Year’s Baby, Thomas Alexander Deabay, born to parents Bridget and Lane Deabay of Ashland.
Thomas made his entrance on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 at 11:11 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 21.5 inches long. He was delivered by Kim Martin, CNM, FNP-C of Pines Women’s & Children’s. He joins proud big sisters Ella, 13, and Catherine, 6.
As the first baby born at Cary Medical Center in 2026, Thomas and his family were presented with special gift baskets from the Cary Medical Center team and the Cary Medical Center Auxiliary. Additional gifts were generously donated by Casey Blackstone, owner of Naptime Knots in Fort Fairfield, including a hat, handmade quilt and onesie for Thomas. These items were part of a larger donation of hats provided to babies born at Cary Medical Center.

Presenting the gift baskets were members of the Cary Medical Center Auxiliary Joanne Cyr, Roberta Walton and Sandra Huck, along with Cary Medical Center team members Samantha Fox, RN; Brooke Moreau, RN; Jennifer Plante, RN, maternal child primary charge nurse; and Shelly Deprey, RN.
With about 20 active members, the Cary Medical Center Auxiliary continues to support the hospital by hosting various fundraisers with proceeds supporting many hospital projects and programs.
