HOULTON, Maine — DeWayne Morse, principal of Houlton Middle-High School, announced that senior Keegan Brown has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is a highly selective honor given to a graduating senior in recognition of her academic achievement and exemplary citizenship.
“Throughout her years at Houlton Middle-High School, Keegan has distinguished herself in the classroom, and as a leader in our school and community,” Morse noted. “She is an exceptional representative of a student who embodies all of the positive traits which we hope every graduating senior possesses and she very much deserves this recognition.”
Brown will join Morse and other award winners from across the state at an honors luncheon on Saturday, April 11. The event will be held at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.
The luncheon serves as a formal tribute to Maine’s most dedicated students. During the ceremony Brown will be presented with an individual plaque to commemorate her achievement. She will also be eligible for one of 10 $1,000 scholarships awarded in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA. It remains one of the state’s most respected honors for high school seniors, focusing not just on academic performance, but on the character and leadership a student brings to her local community.
