Surface high pressure centered south of the Great Lakes builds into the Valley today into Friday with mostly sunny skies overspreading Fort Kent and vicinity. An upper trough following yesterday’s frontal system will bring a chance of scattered showers to the Valley this afternoon. 

Highs top out in the upper 60s to near 70°F with west wind 10-15 mph with gusts 25-30 mph possible. Tonight looks mostly clear as high pressure remains in control. Lows fall into the upper 40s to near 50°F with south-southwest winds 0-5 mph.

High pressure remains in control Friday as spreads from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic. Mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the low 80s and southwest wind 8-10 mph. Friday night, mostly clear with lows in the lower 50s and near calm winds in Fort Kent and vicinity. Winds become south 0+-5 mph.

High pressure remains in control of the region’s weather Saturday with mostly sunny skies and warmer conditions with highs reaching the middle 80s. Saturday night looks partly cloudy and mild with overnight lows in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. South wind 0-5 mph expected.

Sunday, July 26-Tuesday, July 28

High pressure will continue to dominate the Valley’s weather Saturday and Sunday. Mostly sunny skies continue to overspread Fort Kent and vicinity Saturday with highs climbing into the mid-80s. South wind 0-5 mph expected. Saturday night, high pressure drifts east into the Maritimes with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. South wind 0-5 mph expected.

For Sunday, mostly sunny skies continue across the Valley. Highs reach the mid-80s for most locations with south wind in the 5-10 mph range. A cold front approaching from Quebec may trigger some isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms with a 20% chance of precipitation. Sunday night, partly cloudy skies are expected with lows in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.  Southeast winds fall to near calm overnight.

The cold front continues to slide across Quebec Monday with mostly sunny skies and some scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible with a 30% chance of precipitation. The high peaks in the lower 80s with light south winds across the area. Monday night, partly cloudy skies with a low in the upper 50s and light southeast winds expected along with some isolated showers possible overnight.

Low pressure looks to approach from the southwest Tuesday bringing more widespread shower activity in conjunction with the approaching cold front. Tuesday’s high reaches around 80 in Fort Kent with southeast winds in the 5-10 mph range. A 40% chance of mainly afternoon showers/thunderstorms can be expected. Tuesday night, partly cloudy skies with a 50% chance of showers and lows in the mid-to-upper 50s. Southeast wind 0-5 mph across the Valley.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
