The Aroostook Hospice Foundation is honored to recognize a generous gift from the Hedrich family, establishing Sandy’s Kitchen and Joe’s Laundry Room at the Aroostook House of Comfort in memory of two beloved family members.
The Aroostook House of Comfort is a six-bed inpatient hospice home serving patients and families from throughout northern Maine. The family kitchen provides a welcoming place for loved ones to gather, prepare meals and spend meaningful time together, while the laundry room offers a practical comfort for families during extended stays.
“The decision to support the Aroostook House of Comfort was an easy one. After our first visit, we immediately knew we wanted to help further its mission of providing compassionate, end-of-life care to patients and their families,” Hedrich family members stated.
“The facility is an invaluable resource for Presque Isle and the surrounding communities, offering comfort, dignity, and support when it is needed most. As part of our contribution, we chose to participate in the naming opportunities to honor two very special people in our family,” they said.

“Sandy’s Kitchen was dedicated in memory of Sandra “Sandy” Hedrich — our mom, mother-in-law and Nanny. Sandy was known for her warm hospitality and her love of preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Her kitchen was always a place where everyone felt welcome, making this tribute especially meaningful.
“We also dedicated Joe’s Laundry Room in memory of Uriah Joseph “Joe” Hedrich II — our dad, father-in-law and Grampy. Joe founded the first Hedrich laundromat, laying the foundation for what has become a family business. Todd and Jenn have proudly continued his legacy, growing it into Maine Laundry Centers, which now serves communities throughout the state of Maine.

“Our family is honored to play a small part in supporting such a meaningful organization. We hope our contribution inspires others to join us in helping ensure that the Aroostook House of Comfort can continue providing exceptional care and comfort for generations to come,” the family concluded.
