This year’s tournament was the 17th consecutive year that the tournament has been played. The first tournament was held in 1993 and has continued to grow over the years both in participants in the tournament and the amount of money that has been generated.
In its first year, the net profit was more than $1,500 and has continued to grow over the years. This year, the net profit was $23,535, with a combined total of the net profit over the 17-year period of $287,477.
“I am always amazed at how the MMG Insurance employees have taken on giving in the community and particularly their dedication to United Way and other non profits in the County,” said MMG President and CEO Larry Shaw.”
“The staff at MMG Insurance did an outstanding job organizing the event,” said Claudia Stevens, Executive Director of the United Way.
“MMG encourages their employees to get involved and give back to the community and their efforts were amazing.”
As United Way begins its fund raising efforts to raise $500,000 the funding received from this event represent the first dollars in and are a critical part of their success. MMG Insurance employees also hold a workplace campaign that generates around $20,000 for workplace giving and special fund raisers that they hold during their campaign.
“We are so successful in achieving our goal because of companies like MMG willing to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate,” Stevens said.
