Monday marked the first official day winter athletic teams in Maine could begin their practice schedules, and schools in central Aroostook County had their facilities buzzing with activity.
Many teams are scheduled to compete in pre-season games over the next couple weeks before the regular season begins in December.
In fact, the Fort Fairfield High School boys and girls basketball teams will host a preseason event Friday and Saturday. The matchups are as follows:
Friday: 3:30 p.m., Limestone/MSSM vs. So. Victoria girls; 4:45 p.m., Limestone/MSSM vs. So. Victoria boys; 6 p.m., Fort Fairfield vs. Easton girls; 7:15 p.m., Fort Fairfield vs. Sugarloaf boys. Saturday: 10:15 a.m., Fort Fairfield vs. So. Victoria girls; 11:30 a.m., Limestone/MSSM vs. Sugarloaf boys; 12:45 p.m., Easton vs. So. Victoria girls; 2 p.m., Sugarloaf vs. So. Victoria boys; 3:15 p.m., Easton vs. Limestone/MSSM girls; 4:30 p.m., Fort Fairfield vs. So. Victoria boys; 5:45 p.m., Fort Fairfield vs. Limestone/MSSM girls; 7 p.m., Fort Fairfield vs. Limestone/MSSM boys.
