Established in 1993, Crown Travel owners Bill and Lisa Levasseur have been in the business since 1979, with Lisa’s career starting at the Presque Isle airport with Bar Harbor Airlines and Bill hiring on soon after.
“To say the travel business has changed is an understatement. Today consumers can go online, book airline tickets, hotels and their dream trip. When doing this on your own you’re the one who is totally responsible for bookings,” said Lisa Levasseur. “But the cheapest way isn’t always best.”
Levasseur said there are advantages to using a travel agency.
“We handle all aspects — airline tickets, hotels, transportation, tours, trains, car rentals and more. Even if making a local trip in New England, we can book hotels, show or sports tickets too,” she said.
When you book travel arrangements, staff act on your behalf to see that proper restitution is made in the event something inadvertently goes wrong.
“Your best interest is our priority,” said Levasseur.
“When you’re at the airport and lines are long and you wonder what’s going on, call our toll-free number and in most situations we can get the answers or rebook you on the next flight while everyone stands in line or on hold trying to get help,” she said.
Crown makes sure you understand travel documents, including cancellation policies and penalties, saving time, money and headaches.
“When you come in, we’ll ask many questions. Have dates of travel, names of all travelers as they appear on government-issued identification, contact information for all passengers and dates of birth. We charge a service charge, depending on what you want. A woman recently commented she didn’t care what the fee was because when she booked something herself, everything got messed up,” she said.
Levasseur encourages clients to do research.
