PRESQUE ISLE — A local man was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon after police responded to a fight last Monday night.
The Presque Isle Police Department responded to a call around 7:52 p.m. from a man advising a group of people across the street from him on Beacon Road were getting into a fight. According to the police log, the caller indicated the people fighting had bats and sticks.
Officer Lynn Hartley responded, assisted by Sgt. Eric Erickson, PIPD. James E. Schillinger, 38, of Presque Isle, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Hartley took possession of a machete which Schillinger was reportedly brandishing upon her arrival. The weapon was logged into evidence at the police department.
Schillinger was given a court date of July 20 and was released on bail. Part of Schillinger’s bail conditions is to have no contact with another Presque Isle man who’d also been at the scene.
