A. MARIE WRIGHT, LUDLOW – A. Marie Wright, 97, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, while surrounded by her family. She was born on March 19, 1921, in Houlton, the daughter of Thomas J. and Beulah (Smith) Callnan.
Marie graduated from Houlton High School with the Class of 1939 and then attended Westbrook Junior College before graduating from Ricker College. Marie worked for thirty-three years as the Town Clerk for the Town Of Ludlow. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary of the Visitation Church. She enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens and feeding the birds.
She is survived by three children, Norma London and her husband, Mike, of East Hodgdon, James Wright and his wife, Brenda, of Houlton, and Millard Wright and his wife, Kimberly, of Ludlow; a son-in-law, John Lincoln of East Hodgdon; as well as six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson on the way. She also leaves behind a brother, Kenneth Callnan, of Brackettville, TX, a sister, Joan Small, of Brooklyn, NY, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Mary Newhouse, of Houlton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Wright, a daughter, Nancy Lincoln, and a grandson, Craig Allen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abouleish for all of his care and support during this time. A Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial Outside of Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at St. Mary of the Visitation Church with Deacon Al Burleigh officiating. A reception was held immediately following the service in the Parish Center. Interment will take place at Ludlow Cemetery at a later date.
